Title : [ Affirmation - Cheryl ]
This post is about one of our given topics (:
I'd like to affirm..

All of them made my training sessions memorable and fun. Although tiring, I enjoyed every single session. Thank you girls and our three teachers

Title : [ random post :B - Cheryl ]
HEY YAW! This post has nothing to do with ebc but it has something to do with my school life now that might be affecting some of you out there ( those looking at this post ). You might think you have a schedule that is so busy you cannot squeeze anything in. Actually, it all depends on how u look at your schedule. For example I, as a badminton player, have alot of training sessions that leave me half-dead the next day. Although this is the case, I still do make time for people around me even if I'm dead tired. If you think you have a very busy schedule, make time for something you like. This is also useful for those who detest studying but are having their O's or some important examination. There is always a time for everything as long as you manage your time properly. So, why not look at your schedule again now and think again if you think you are too busy. I'm sure the teachers are busier than us ( tons busier ) but they still make time for us (:

Title : [ random by xinfang ]
okay was feeling random and this post is not related to any topic teacher gave us and etc etc.

i think after our trip back from EBC, every wednesday and saturday will be weird for us:/
everyone will be walking towards their own goal.no stairs climbing no running no bukit timah hill.and most importantly no teacher to torture us(actually this we should be feeling happy about).haha but still.i will feel weird on every two of that days and i guess the rest will feel the same way too.

soooo we got to cherish the time we have now!(:
everyone lets jiayou jiayou jiayou!
kindly pls eat more too(try to avoid transfat food k,and yuki wenting! no goreng pisang !!!)
hahaha.

p.s: mrs ang is afraid of people tickling her =P

Girls, Ms Puah hear you. I can see the persistence in all of you. Yes, the journey is tough.. and that speaks for all of us. Press on, and that's the EBC spirit, k? Be focus and take one thing at a time. Know that we are not alone. God is with us. Love all of you.

Wen Ting, Siman, Xin Fang and Yu Ki, i got another new assignment. You gals are under my charge. Means, i have to make sure you gals do well in exam. I'm your teacher "mentor". haha.
Come tell me about your load of work and we'll " sob " together..

Title : [ Fears and preparations, Wen Ting:) ]
Fears.

Well, it took me some time to decide whether should i join our school EBC's girls. I went around asking all my friends and teachers. Mostly all of them said, no. You should concentrate more on your studies. Taking O's this year, what-a-timing. It's really tough to cope with your studies and trainings at the same time. By the time i reached home after my EBC's training, it's already 10pm. Training starts at 7pm and ends around 9pm. Almost everyday i slept around 2am. Just to complete all my homeworks. But still, i didn't managed to complete everything on time. Teachers did complain about me not handing in homeworks on time, but sometimes i just don't have the strength to continue after my training.Even my parents didn't give me their full support. We always quarrelled because of EBC, they wanted to me give up. Sometimes i just couldn't understand why cant they understand how rare the opportunity is? I trained so hard for it, just to ensure that I'm physically fit and mentally prepared to complete and enjoy the whole journey. Friends have been telling me that, i gotta be extremely careful when i got up there. I believe that all of us would definitely come back safely. I trust all my instructors and teachers. Another of fear of mine is my studies. Frankly speaking, I'm not doing very well in my studies. Tons of test and homeworks coming up, remedial sessions everyday. I told myself that i must persevere on, i know that it's tough but i know we can do it. Girls, we gotta train harder alright, days are getting nearer and nearer, we dont have much time left. Xinfang, siman, yuki we must train hard and study hard at the same time okay? O's this year, no joke. Strive hard for our goal, be it studies or Ebc. Like what xinfang had said, nothing is impossible. Think positively, times when you feel like giving up, think through. What we've done for the past few months.

Preparations.

We started our training last year. Beginning of the training, we would just go for a short run around our school. But as time goes by, training starts to get tougher and tougher. Few of our training spots are YishunCanal, BukitTimahHill, tracks and blocks opposite our school. I prefer YishunCanal, that's Mstay's territory! Hahaha, it's a very nice and cooling place to jog and train yourself. Although trainings are tough, but when all of students and teachers train and joke together, everything seemed simpler and easier. Loads of funny little stuffs happened during our trainings, that's when we get closer and closer to each other. Still remember our very first training? All of us are like strangers! We hardly talk to one another, we just merely trained together. But, look at how we bond during this few months! Girls, it's amazing (: I strongly believed that it's God's doing. God answered our prayer, how lovely could this be.

Girls, remember this.

We're a team, and we'll always be.

Title : [ My fears and Peparation, Cherry(: ]
My fears.
Well, i have every reasons to doubt myself but nothing replace self confidence, you just gotta think beyond yourself!
Why bother climbing this mountains if i don't think i could succeed. There is no room for self-doubt.
I'm afraid i can't cope with my studies and for that i will bring notes and revise them. I know the teachers in CHR would want us to do well.
I'm afraid of the unexpected outcomes we will have on top. Eg. The effects of the altitude, getting nauseated.
But that, we will have the teacher's in charge to handle.
There was one part of mt.kinabalu where the weather was really hot (2am)and we were wearing our winter gear. At that point, i was about to give up and just strip everything off me.
I was on the verge on crying and you don't know how #$%^&*()_)(*&^%$%^ i felt. That itself was a whole new experience for me. I hope i can overcome that during the climb at EBC.
I hope after this trip, my relationship with family and friends tie wouldn't strain off, i really hope everyone I care about to live well, laugh alot, and be loved much during my 18 days trip.
And 'drum roll'......... I'M REALLY SCARED WHEN I RETURN, MY DOG WOULDNT RECONGIZE ME OR MAYBE MAYBE I MISS A HUGE 50% SALE OFF. AIYOAIYOAIYO

Preparation.
Ohhhh this topic.
Our training is really harsh.
no one lace up a pair of sneakers or mountain shoes and run 7km or climb staircase at 7pm,especially on school days.
long distance is about the lon haul and trekking is about perseverance.
there were days if i wouldn't sure if she could run or trek but i can always run and trek if i want to make it a effort.
In my mind, i was thinking or rather chanting, 'Just keep on plodding on, GO GO GO', knowing that with every step comes with a great reward. even a little bit everyday.
We girls just have to endure the pain in order to success.
I'm going to be dressed in layers. i must also buy specially design panties that can wick moisture rather then absorbing it. Cool right.
The important gear are boots, jackets made out of gortex(wind resistance, waterproof), socks, gloves.
OH! and I must really hand it to the early explorers who did big climb.

Well, I'm kinda quiet worker and i really hope to keep myself low profile.
Oh never mind.
I hope to take up a new dance/sport/self being course this year since last year i took up intermediate hip hop course.
I tried making running long distance my hobby but there's simply no time for it.
I'm trying to keep to a vegetarian diet but it's very hard to resist the crispy chicken wing and braised duck so I'm trying to substain it lah. haha

Title : [ Fears on EBC and preparation by xinfang ]
talking about preparation.
we girls had been training for4-5months since last year october.
climbing stairs 15times with 5kg load, treking at bukit timah hill and running at yishun canal/around school.
to some of you guys, this training may seem easy but actually its not.bcause in order to train our fitness and endurance, teacher in charge tends to make the task abit torturous for us.but soon training after training we managed to get used to teacher training style and endure together.
in fact everyone of us are racing with the time we had now and we dont have much time left before we set off to nepal on 29 march.im glad that no one gives up on themselves during this period of time and we began to bond together.hoping that we shall continue to work hard and encourage each other when we meet difficulties(:

and everyone has their own fears.including me too.
i only climb mount jantan(karimun trip) before and its only 400m high.everest base camp is 5400m high and its 11times as much as mount jantan.im having the fear of what will happen during the trek towards EBC and are we able to make it to the base camp together as a team.
so now we are trying our best to train hard during our training so that we can reach EBC without having much risk.
meanwhile,i am also worried that we may injured any time durg this period of time which will affect our own progress during the training.everyone is working extra hard and i dont wish to lack behind others.cause i hope that each and everyone of us will reach to the EBC as a team.(:
another fear im having is about my studies.are we able to cope the stress and work we are having for O levels?are we able to do well and hit our own targets?
i hope i can do well and i must do well.because i know that our future is in our hands and we have to work hard for it.
people may think that its impossible that we will be able to cope with our work when we come back from the trip.but i am sure that EBC girls are able to do it because teachers are trying to help us and we should not give up on ourselves too.
even IMPOSSIBLE=I+M+POSSIBLE.

i believe EBC girls has a common goal for us to achieve.
which is to reach the base camp together as a team and do well for our studies.
and we shall achieve it together as one!

Title : [ [My Fear On EBC by siman:D] ]
My fear on ebc
For me my fear on ebc is basically not able to make it to the top and wasting the opportunity that the school gave. I know that it isn’t easy to climb ebc as we need to be physically fit and also to have a strong mindset in order to conquer the mountain. Even if we have achieved both criteria we might not even get the chance to climb as we might not get used to the altitude there. However I feel that even if we succeed or not, that’s not important. What is important is that we’ve learn something on our way there and I’m sure that the bond between us will get stronger as days goes by.
"End of the journey / new beginnings
Everest is not about summiting, adding to your image, the conquest of nature or of other humans. If that’s what you’ve come for, you will miss out on the true treasure.
You will become a prisoner of other people’s judgment in your desire of proving self-worth. You will climb blinded and feel an immense failure if not summiting. Or if successful - go home, celebrate your triumph and fame, and when the lights eventually are turned towards someone else, end up empty, again chasing new ways to get the brief applauses and acknowledgments.
Meantime you’ll lose who you really are, what you really would like to experience - should there not have to be that moment of sensation in it every time. Perhaps you would like to sail around the world - although it has been done hundreds of time before, learn to paint, or try to figure out what Dolphins talk about.
It is truly marvellous to accomplish awesome, remarkable things and explore the unknown. Yet, your dreams should be pursued because they are sprung out of your own curiosity, not just a desire to impress. Be sure to climb Everest for yourself. Take great care to live free.
Take the time to really take in the experience.
Look at the shimmering rocks beneath your feet. Search them for rubies and gold. Watch the sparkling avalanches in silent camps at night. Contemplate over the distant stars of the black Universe.
Look out for the imposing, mysterious mountain ghost when the mountain is projected towards a wall of raindrops. Search for the dancing rainbow cloud on the summit of Everest at sunrise.
Peer into the black, bottomless crevasses and their strange, underground worlds. Watch the pinnacles of ice shimmering in turquoise and emerald green in the icefall. Marvel at the majestic summits of the Himalayan giants sparkling in the sun at C3.
Listen to the roaring jetwind. Watch the atmosphere darken when you approach its very edge. Observe the golden brown plateau of Tibet opposite the green valleys of Nepal.
Make a silent prayer for those you pass by, resting forever in the brace of Everest.
Look closely into the faces of your fellow climbers, disheartened by fear, determined by hope, and your own eyes in the mirror when you think that there is nothing more left in you...
Take the experience back home with you. Forever remember that there are all kinds of remarkable things in this world to experience, a beauty and drama beyond our wildest imagination. All we have to do is to let our minds run towards our dreams, face our fears and try to accomplish the
worthwhile. We might succeed or not, that’s not important.
The summit is such a small piece of the mountain. Most of the beauty and wonders are experienced during the climb."

Title : [ research on everest base camp !!!!! :D by siman ]
Here are my little research on mount Everest base camp
Base Camp
-> 5400 m / 17700 ft.
Yes! I found the height of it :D So girls remember it isn’t 5540, 5455(whatever number ok!)

"Base Camp is like a Formula One car racing depot. Satellite phones buzz in international tents as the worlds languages mix in thrilling accounts of the latest. Journalists, families and climbers exchange news and emotions between the mountain and the world. For no alpine peak fires imagination like Mount Everest.
You handle the latest tech gear, but wash your clothes in frozen lakes, where you crush the ice and work quickly before it freezes over again. Drying up, the damp clothes freeze into strange ice formations at night. The same happens to your wet hair. And your toothpaste. You finish your meal quickly for it immediately cools on your plate. You eat buffalo meat. It´s fresh until it starts to smell. Then you wait. After a few weeks the odour vanish. At that point your BC sherpa-cook start to include it in your diet again, as a very special buffalo jerky.
You listen to the frequent avalanches coming down Nuptse, Lho La and Pumori. You throw silent glances at the icefall and listen as it collapses with a horrendous crash. Base Camp is a place of hope, fear, frustration, conflicts and life-long friendships. Some climbers will experience their dream fulfilled, others will have to return home with an unfinished task. You´ll look around you and try to guess. But only destiny will know which fate is to be yours."

As we are only climbing the base camp so I only took that small little part (DON’T BELITTLE US) even though it’s only the base but we’ll need to put in a lot of effort to conquer it ok! But anyway if you are interested to know more about the whole route you check out the web below.

Title : [ facts & research by Yuki:D ]
Hello everyone((:
So today is about facts and some research that we're suppose to do
The other day we were having our stair climb training
After doing our stair climbs, we had a debrief from Ms Puah
So, we were suppose to stretch and then take a sit and listen to Ms Puah
Wen Ting or Si Man said something about having big buttocks if we were to sit after exercising
And well, i couldn't really find the facts online, though i tried googling it
But anyways, this is what i could find about big butts

What Causes Big Butts?

There are many people out there, mostly women, who are obtaining free online diets to help them great rid of the increased fat in their buttocks. But to fix the problem, one must understand what cause it. For most people, big buttocks is cause by one thing, a high carbohydrate diet. If you eat a lot of carbs and have a bigger butt, it’s mostly because of your carb intake. Of course other factors like your genetic history and even other unhealthy things in your diet help in causing a big butt. But for the most part, I have noticed that the more carbs a person eats, the bigger their butt is.

Okay, the picture was suppose to be a joke but yes it is a chair, haha:D
But anyways, i do realize that people who sit a lot have big butts
Maybe its because you become lazy and rest on your butt for a really long time
And even after eating you sit down so probably the fats goes to your butt
But by actual fact, after we eat, we should walk around or stand for 30 minutes to help digest your food because after eating, humans tend to become lazy and feel very heavy from the food that they have just consumed
Well, that's what i know from having big butts
Maybe because i laze too much, haha
So yeah, that's the first research that i did'

Secondly, its about Everest

Okay, so this is a map of it and its really small
So if you were to click on it, you will get a closer look on it.
Or if you're still not satisfied you can give this link a try(:

copy and paste this on your URL:
http://www.explore-himalaya.com/photo%20gallery/maps/everest_base_camp_trekking.jpg
and ohh! this is a URL of what Everest is all about:
http://www.mountainmadness.com/trekking/asia_base.cfm

As you can see, the base camp is not really at the BASE as people like to tease us
And giving such comments like its not that difficult or its just at the BASE
But it is tough work getting up there
Yet really exciting! YAY! i can't wait!
And my answer to the height of the Everest Base Camp is on the map itself((:

Anyways, we did our 3 circuits of Bukit Timah Hill
Damn i hate those stairs and especially with load, god no!
But overall i think its better then the usual random pick of stairs and going up and down of it many times
All our teachers were there this time, Ms Puah, Mrs Ang, Ms Tay and Melissa
All our SZUPER COOL TEACHERS!:D:D they ROCK OUR SOCKS!
And a really mischievious monkey actually tried to take something from my bag
And tried to steal Oreo from Wen Tings bag i think?
It was the same monkey, so i had to sit on the bench to do warm up just so that the monkey wouldn't come and steal stuff
It was literally the same monkey, but boy was it cute!
HAHA! i want a monkey, like a really cute one, baby monkeys!
Yes i have a lot of love for animals, they're my soft spot((:
But overall i think the training was quite okay
And now Xin Fang has to keep track of the food that we eat
Which is funny cause now Ms Puah says that we have to eat more
And here i am cutting down on my food cause im fat
Well, thats what i think, but ohh well
Now we have to eat alot of Sys Fat, i think thats how its spelt
And have rice and some other healthy stuff
Rice is carbohydrate and carbohydrate makes you fat
So im afraid now, but i have to update Xin Fang what i eat, so yeah:(
But its okay, we won't be having out nromal food once we're there so Melissa says we should enjoy our Singaporean food
So this is the end of my post, tired of typing:D

Title : [ My EBC preparation by Priscilla Yau ]
When it comes to preparation, you don’t really know if you are really prepared. Sometimes we overestimate ourselves and think that we are able to complete the task even without preparing for it. However, the results we get aren’t what we had expected. But there are times where we underestimate ourselves and tend to over prepare and not know our limits. One thing we must know of ourselves is our limits. We cannot think that we are too good for a task and therefore don’t have to prepare for it. On the contrary, I think that we should prepare ourselves in everything we do, not just more important tasks.

Title : [ The fears of Priscilla Yau on EBC ]
Hi, I'm back!! Now I'm gonna talk about my fear on EBC. Like everybody, what I fear most is that I can't make it to the top. But if it’s because of a medical condition, I would rather not go on. Like Yuki said in her post, the mountain will always be there. I can always go back if I don’t make it this time. But I’ll still feel really sad. My other fear is that *touch wood* I don’t make it back in one piece. My friends always say the same thing “You’re going to Everest Base camp? Are you going to die?” Sometimes I also ask myself if I can come back safely. I always tell myself that I will but sometimes I’m not very sure. When you’re so high up, you don’t know what can happen. I’m not trying to scare you all but this is one of my fears. Although I’ve been on trekking trips, I’ll have the same two fears every time. But the most important is to put them aside and learn to overcome them. Unfortunately, I haven’t learnt how to do that. DONT WORRY!!! I will try to overcome my fears and LOOK ON THE BRIGHT SIDE!!

This was during my ABC trip when we had to cross this super huge fast-flowing river. What made it difficult is that it was super cold, super misty and when you drop down the river, you know you cannot come back up.

Do not fear him, declares the LORD, for I am with you, to save you and to deliver you from his hand. Jeremiah 42:11

Title : [ Profile of Priscilla Yau ]

Hi!! I'm not really good at the whole blogging thing so don't blame me if i get too boring.
As you can see from the title, my name is Priscilla :) and I'm from class 3e4. I was from 2e1 last year and just wanna say...2e1 '08 ROCKS!!!! Back to the topic. I enjoy outdoor activities especially soccer!! You can find me playing at the street soccer court almost everyday after school. Most people call me a tomboy but can't a girl play soccer??? I just like running around dribbling a ball and shooting it into the net. Some peole call it stupid but I find it fun and enjoyable. Other than soccer, I go on trekking trips every year since 2005. I've been to Mt. Kinabalu in Sabah, Poonhill and ABC in Nepal. In fact, I've been to Kinabalu twice :) I must say that I have enjoyed the trips to those places. Enough of the wild side. Now to the peaceful side. I enjoy music. I sing, play the piano and guitar. I think that's it about me.
P.S. The picture is not cut and paste. I was doing a jump shot on ABC. I'm so proud of myself for making it to the top :)

Title : [ preparations, cheryl (: ]
Aye.. I forgot to add in my preparations for ebc ~.~ Well, I have been running every other day with my badminton team and sometimes we, the EBC girls, do meet up for a run or a stairclimb. I have not been joining them for the runs because I sprained my ankle not long ago ): Since i have recovered now, I'll be joining them for the extra runs etc.
We also train at Bukit Timah Hill every saturday with loads ( 5-10kg ) for now we are still sticking to 5kg loads but I believe we will build up in time to carry 10kg loads. Our training in Bukit Timah Hill consists of trekking and circuits ( we hate this but we enjoy the most fun suffering in the circuits ).
For our circuits, we usually move up and down a certain flight of stairs for around 3-5 times then move on to another flight after a short trek and repeating what we did before. The last saturday, 7th february 2009, we actually climbed the Rangas Path not far from the submit. The full flight is about 24storeys high and we actually climbed it 3 times ( I did not as I have not fully recovered from my sprained ankle :\ )
We also train on wednesday nights from 7-9pm. Our wednesday trainings would be running then climbing the flights of stairs at the HDB flats not far from our school with loads. Although tiring, we enjoyed every single session. After which, we would go out for dinner together and have a nice chat then head home (:

Title : [ Bukit Timah Hill Pictures; Yuki:D ]

So these are a few pictures when we were gathering in the canteen
I just thought i'd snap a few candid pictures
As as you can see, we snapped Mrs Ang's pictures too
We just had too, haha
Lets just say we have a lot of fun with her when we have our training *winks*(:

And so there are more pictures to come:D
When we got to Bukit Timah Hill
We met Melissa:D She's one of the hikers thats coming with us too
She's really nice, she de-briefed us on the dangers that we might face and what we should pack for the trekking

The pictures of us trekking Bukit Timah Hill
I know they're kinda blurr but ohh well, you can roughly make out
It was blurr cause i was walking while taking pictures so yeah:D

And the stairs that you see now, well those are the kind of stairs me climb
The height of each stairs are not exactly equal
Some are even higher then normal stairs that you find at the HDB blocks
The length of the stairs that you see in this pictures is not even half of the stairs
Going down these stairs makes my legs wobble, cause after climbing up and then going down, the legs aren't use to it

These was taken after we ended our training, and we just thought of taking a picture, well we were being crazy but i liked it:D:D

Im wierd, well at least most people say so & I have ROCKIN friends:D
I love purple, its gay but i love it:D
Im kind of a geek, yes it lives in me
And im a perfectionist, so people tell me
I have a thing for ugly hand writing and just having the urge to re-write it all over again
Im a malay half filipino and im a full time floorballer and well a student
I play floorball for a club and was previously in Singapore Schools

(Singapore Schools Ladies&Men)

Thats the Singapore Schools team year 1
and now im back to my old club, Pasirian
And ohh! i love neon lights, i think they're pretty *bimbo face*
I love music and singing just as much as any other, although i know im not that good at it
But ohh well, thats pretty much what i can tell you about me

2)Okay, so im done with the profiling
Now its the fears, these are all homework given by our dearest Ms Puah:D
Well, my fears are not being able to make it to the base camp
But i know that the mountain will always be there
But this is also like a one time opportunity to work with other girls and form a team
And climb the mountain together
I have a wonderful time training with the girls no matter how tired i am on that day
Because they always cheer me up and motivate me
I have wonderful trainers and teachers too
They motivate us, but im also afraid that all those motivation might not help me on climbing Everest
Im afraid of facing the fact that i might fall sick when im there
But i know that i will do my best, and try to make it as far as i can
But however, my main aim will be making it to the base camp
And as long as i can go on, i'll do my best
But if i feel sick i know that i shouldn't push it because i dont want to risk everything and end up not coming back, scary stuff
Well, i leave it all to god to keep me in safe hands

3)My Preparation for EBC:
Well, first and for most is if course my studies
I have been working extra hard on my studies
Because i dont want to risk failing any subjects
I know that i have to make sure that i can cope with my studies too
Ive also been keeping track of the things that i have to do
Just to know that im on track and im not missing anything
Ive been training extra hard on normal days
With my Floorball going on and EBC trainings
Its been also really tiring and stressing to keep track of time and get things done
But i know that ive chosen to make this trip an accomplishment
And it requires some sacrifices
Like not being able to go out as much or playing Floorball on weekends just to go train for EBC
But i know its worth it and plus, i get to lose weight?
HAHA! well, thats my motivation too i guess

We also have been training at Bukit Timah Hill on Saturdays
2 circuits i must says? or maybe one?
But it was tiring, climbing up and down those steep stairs with LOAD(5-7Kg)
And lets say going up and down of it like 5-10 times
Well normally its in that range, but when we see the summit, OHH MYY!
To me, its like a long break!
But its actually a short one, but the short break feel so good
Cause its like finally you can rest
So yeah, hope you guys enjoy reading some stuff about me and about or trainings:D
Update soon:D:D

Title : [ My fears abt EBC ( cheryl ) ]
The glutton is back again! If you ask me about my fears.. I don't really feel much fear. In fact, I feel very excited and with so many adults with just SEVEN of us, I believe it'll be very safe and we'll all come back in one piece (: Besides, with all the gear checks, trekking, stair climbing ( with loads :O ) and our own extra training including our CCAs, I have utmost confidence of reaching at least the 4000m altitude of Mount Everest ( It's almost half the height of the mountain! :O ). Financially, there isn't a very big problem as the school is sponsoring us with 66% of the total cost ( SGD3000 ). I also believe that we are all mentally prepared for the 5.545m EBC trek and we'll move as a team towards reaching the base camp.
